Barn Insider

The founder

Built by an operator, not a journalist

Founder portrait — natural light, no studio

Barn Insider is run by Mehmood Rajoka, a Birmingham-based founder-operator whose group builds and runs businesses across compliance, operations and advisory. Barn Insider is the third publication in a repeatable format: a niche of business owners nobody writes about seriously, covered with real numbers.

Accountants have Practice Insider. General business owners have Entrepreneurs Base. Farm owners — who run some of the most capital-intensive small businesses in Britain — get this.

How this makes money — stated plainly

The newsletter is free and will stay free. Revenue comes from one clearly-boxed sponsor per issue, and in time from events (Barn Live), a paid membership (Barn Circle), and a benchmark report (Barn Intel). The group also invests in farm-adjacent businesses — dealers, contractors, professional services. Where a story touches anything the group has an interest in, the interest is disclosed in the piece. If we ever fail at that, tell us, publicly.

What we believe

A farm is a company. Turnover, margin, debt, succession — the same arithmetic as any other business, mostly done less often.

Named beats anonymous. An anonymised case study can’t be checked, so it can’t be trusted.

A chart beats a stock photo. If we don’t have a real photograph, we print the data instead.

Six minutes, then out. The reader is running a business. The issue length is a promise, not a limit we failed to reach.
